About

The founder standing my a rail of made to order clothing
Designing with a mission and conviction that conscious fashion does not have to sacrifice style or quality, exploit people or cost the earth

Hi, I'm Lisa the founder, designer, social media creator, tech support, customer service, fabric buyer, book keeper, order packer and seamstress liaison...
__
I put customers and garment workers at the centre of everything I do, through timeless, beautifully realised designs that empower women to be their best selves every day, and through my determination to drive long-term positive change in a damaging juggernaut of an industry. Through evolving sustainable practices and a commitment to a more ethical supply chain and consciously created fashion
__
My background has been in fashion and retail  (Laura Ashley, Warehouse & Ted Baker) and earlier in finance. All 3 coalesced after working through each one in my 20's and 30's to start my own brand in the perfectly, imperfect year of 2020.  A new decade with a new beginning that came with its own set of challenges
I am dedicated to raising awareness of problems within the fashion industry and assisting women to bring more mindfulness to everyday choices under the banner of slower produced fashion, made more ethically whilst acknowledging garment workers everywhere are the alchemists that make fashion possible for consumers.

Process

Hanova Studio is always striving, reviewing and evolving practices to become the most considered and considerate brand it can be

This is reflected in the fabric choices, production processes, packaging and zero waste ethos

Whenever possible I source dead-stock natural fabrics first -

I make to order which takes around 2-3 weeks from order to dispatch date -

All fabric scraps are donated to a local school or used to make wonderful waste accessories

FASHIONING SLOWLY FOR GOOD

Quality

The made-to-order process engages makers and wearers in a creative conversation. The garments are made through practices that facilitate empowerment, not exploitation. I want consumers to make a more considered choice when buying new and to encourage customers to curate a wardrobe of quality pieces that they will wear time and time again

Everyone's hard work - and your wallet - is honoured with a fair price, so you can be confident that you're simply paying for quality, design, and a great fit. I design with emphasis on the shape of the clothes rather than the body underneath. A fluid and unstructured philosophy where clothes can be worn season to season, year in year out.
